Matt Wright has served in many roles in the past 22 years, including both as a small business owner and for 9 years as a Sr. Business Consultant for The ServiceMaster Corporation, a former Fortune 500 company. After starting MarketVex in 2010, he’s grown the company into dozens of full time clients across 18 different states. Over the years, Matt’s been recognized in multiple publications and mediums including The Memphis Commercial Appeal, The Memphis Business Journal and News Channel 3 (CBS) Memphis among others.
Matt is also very civic and socially active in his hometown of Lakeland, TN (a suburb of Memphis). He’s served as the President of Vote Yes Lakeland which successfully won support for Lakeland, TN to break away from the Memphis School System and create its own locally controlled system. In 2013 he was elected to the first Board of Education for Lakeland, TN. and in two years the Lakeland School System was rated the number one school system in the state of Tennessee. He was instrumental in negotiating and opening a new $20 million dollar middle school (Lakeland Preparatory School) to handle growth in the suburb and purchasing the land for a high school which will open in August of 2022. During his time on the school board he served as the Tennessee Legislative Network Representative, working with State legislators for the benefit of Lakeland schools.
In December of 2015, Matt was appointed to the Lakeland Development Corporation. The LDC works to attract commerce and new commercial development to Lakeland for the purpose of increasing sales tax revenue for the city. During that time Matt worked on a TIF (tax increment financing) deal to approve The Lake District, a $350 million dollar mixed used project scheduled to open in 2021. Most recently he served on the Lakeland Board of Commissioners, the legislative body for the city of Lakeland.
Matt’s been married to Missy Wright for 25 years and they have three children, Chloe, Quinn and Foster.
